Locker Pickup Evolution

Scavenger Hunt

We put out an armoire filled with Sourdough every Sunday and payment was collected via the honor system while visitors were encouraged to pay what they thought it was worth to support the next bake. i.e. Support our learning how to bake Sourdough.

OOPAL Owner

We started our business in our garage with no way to sell our baked goods. We baked in a wood fired oven and didnt think our bread was good enough to sell. So we began to put our breads out in a cabinet without a price.

The Sourdough Scavenger Hunt

It Organically turned into a Sourdough Scavenger Hunt which allowed us to sharpen our baking skills while engaging the community in a unique way. We decided to double down and formalize it by collecting emails and hosting the hunt every Sunday.

Vintage Filing Cabinets

The filing cabinets continue to serve their purpose  with over 9 locations in Westchester County, NY. Over time we have realized a couple of obvious shortcomings which left us longing for a system with more features.

Our First Pickup Lockers

With enough inquiries for our bread we came up with the idea of Memberships. A monthly payment got each customer their own PO box with a traditional lock and key and discounted access to our online store.

Out With the Old In With the New

The lock and key eventually gave way to a more publicly accessible model where customers can order any given week and are provided with a new locker number each time they order.

OOPAL lockers

Introducing the OOPAL Smart Locker

Through continued research and an endless effort to improve our locker system, we discovered the concept of tablet controlled lockers.

Our custom app interface allows the customer to input a pin number provided by OOPAL when an order is placed. Our bakery and delivery team then produces, packs and delivers the order fresh on the chosen date, time and location.

We look to work with complimentary small businesses such as galleries, shared workspaces, coffee shops as well as gift  and antique shops.

We are on a continued search for new partners who might like to host OOPAL points.
